Songs Wanted

Duck River Music is looking for commercial songs — that is hit songs — songs that appeal to many people. A good commercial song should contain many of the following elements:

  1. Would a listener spend money for a copy of the song after he/she hears it on the radio, iTunes or Youtube?
  2. Does the melody appeal to the listener and is it easily remembered?
  3. Is it a melody which you can find yourself humming, or one of those you cannot recall?
  4. Does the title have meaning?
  5. Does it at once call to mind an image, which is meaningful to the listener?
  6. Do the lyrics paint a picture or tell a story, which the listener can envision and/or to which the listener can relate?
  7. Do the lyrics hold the listener’s interest and make him/her want to hear more?

The more of these elements that characterize your song, the greater is the chance that your song will have listeners and be a hit.

Songs should present a positive message; the message should build up the listener.

DRM does not accept songs that equate love with/to sex. Nor do we accept songs with hate lyrics.
